Cline of John McNair and Associates advising that they had reviewed proposals received on February 28, 1969 for the construction of Phase I of the North Rivanna Water Facilities and recommended that the County award the contract, on the basis of Alternate B, to the low bidder, R. H. Johnson Construction Company of Winston- to Salem, North Carolina. Mr. Kline was present and called attention/the relatively short time specified to complete the Nontvue-Hessian Hills segment, thus making early award rather important. He made further comments regarding cast iron and ductile iron pipe stating that the cast iron has been in use over one hundred years and never deteriorates or becomes inoperable whereas the other type has b~en in use a relatively short time but has been found to stand blows that case iron will not. The County Executive concurred in the recommendation of McNair and Associates. After discussion, motion was made by Nr. Wood, seconded by Nr. Gibson, and unanimously carried, to award contract for the constrnction of Phase I of the North Bivanna Water Facilities, on the basis of Alternate B, to ~. H. Johnson Construction Company Of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, in the amount of $108,754.34. The County Executive advised that the Chairman had been served with a Subpoena and Petition of George Cason to the Court with regaud to decision made by this Board on November 21, 1968, on request for rezoning property on l~oute 29 North from Agricultural A-1 to Industrial ~-1. On motion of Nr. Gibson, seconded by Nr. Wood, and unanimously adopted, these papers were referred to Nr. D. B. ~arshall, County Attorney. On motion, the meeting was adjourned.
