1957-05-29 May 29, 1957 The adjourned meeting of May 15, 1957, was held at 9:00 A.M. on this date with the following members present: Messrs. John W. Williams, Edgar No Garnett, H. Ashby Harris, Edward E. Smith, M. Y. Sutherland, Jr. and Robert Thraves. Absent: None. Officers present: County Executive and Commonwealth's Attorney. The meeting opened with the Lord's Prayer. The Chairman explained that the main purpose of the meeting was Go consider an ordinance re- lating to subdivision control on which a public hearing had been dUly advertised and held at a meeting of March 20, 1957. He stated that several minor 'changes had been made since the public hearing and requested +Jae CoUnty Executive to read the ordinance in full. After the reading of said ordinance, an opportunity was given to those present to speak. A number of people spoke for and against the proposed regulations. Also, numerous suggestions were received with regard to certain changes. After giving an opportunity to those present to speak with regard to the subject, the Chairman thanked the persons present and stated that the ordinance would be taken under further consideration. ~ne County Executive advised that he had advertised and received bids for the painting of the outside of the County Office Building and the County Court House. The bids received were as follows: D. F. Mowbray and Sons ....................... $ 2,549.35 Cassell and Bryant ........................ 3,198.00- The County Executive further advised that funds to cover this expense had been allocated in the current year's budget and requested that the bid of D. F. Mowbray and Sons in the sum of $2,549.35 be accepted. On motion of Mr. Harris, seconded by Mr. Thraves, the County Executive was authorized to accept the bid of D. F. Mowbray and Sons in the sum of $2,549.35. A communication under date 'of May 20, t~9~5~, from Mr. Robert E. Cox, Chairman of the Board-of Managers of St. Anne's Preventorium, was presented. The letter requested permission to install a radio receiver operating in the 15~ megacycle band in the Sheriff's Office to be used as a means of emergency comm~m~cation for St. Anne's Preventorium. The communication outlined the method of installation, The County Executive advised that he had talked with the Sheriff regarding this installation and he (the sheriff) stated that there were no objections to this installation. The County Executive further stated that certain provisos should be given consideration if the request were granted. The conditions were as follows: (2) (3) That the installation be used for purely emergency purposes. That the cost of installation not be borne in any part by Albemarle County. That the installation conform to all standard policies of safety and approved by the Electrical Engineer of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia. That maintenance and repairs be a responsibility of St. Amue's Preventorium. That the receiving antenna ~t the Court' House be installed in the attic if possible. committee in this instance was continued. On motion, the meeting adjourned. Sutherland, that the County Executive notify Mr. Cox that permission would be granted for said mnstallation subject ~to the foregoin~ condition~. Mr. Joel Cochran, developer of Orchard Acres, Crozet, Virginia, again appeared before the Board with respect to a matter presented at the meeting of May 15 With regard to maintenance of roads in his subdivision in order to obtain financing from F.H.A.
