John W. Williams, H. Ashby Harris, Edward Lo Smith, N. Y. Sutherland, Jr., and Robert Thraves. Absent: Mr. Edgar N. Garnett. ~e, the undersigned, members of the Board of County Supervisors of Albemarle County, Virginia, hereby waive notice and special service thereo£, of a meeting to be held at 9:00 A.~. on the thirty-first day of July, 1958, in the County Office Building, Chzrlottesvil!e, Virginia, for the purpose of considering certain roads in the Green- brier and Ruttedge Subdivisions, and we do hereby consent to the transaction of any and all business and the taking of such action at said meeting upon the matter herein- above mentioned as may be lawful, incident, and n~cessary thereto. gar N. ~arnett~ 5~ / Edward L. Mr. Amos Sweet appeared and requested the Board to recommend acceptance of certain streets in ~utledge and Greenbrier Subdivisions into the State Secondary System as follows: (1) Rutledg~ - Essex Road to Meadow Creek - 2,000 lineal feet. (2) Greenbrier - Meadow Creek to Tarleton Drive and North Banbury Street - 4,083 lineal feet. Mr. Sweet advised that only 42% of the homes had been completed on the roads in question but added that considering the number of lots which were unsuitable for building homes and which would probabl hot be sold for quite some time,the percentage increased to 48%. Ur. Sweet, along with Mr. Percy Montagae ~nd ~o Ben Miller, requested the Board to make an exception to its policy of requiring 50% completion in ~his instance. The Commonwealth's Attorney advised that he felt the Board would be justified in making an ~cceptance considering the evidence presented. After due discussion, the following resolution was offered by Mr. Sutherland. seconded by Mw. BE IT~RESOLVED by the Board of County Supervisors of Albemarle County, Virginia, that if an when the following roads have been brought up to standards of the Virginia Department of Highways, and have received approval of.the Resident Highway Engineer, said roads will be recommended for acceptance into the State Secondary System: (1) Rut__~~ Subdivision - Essex Road to Meadow Cre~ - 2~O00~lineal feet. (2) Greenbrier ~ubdivision - Meadow CreeE to Tarleton Drive and North Banbury Street - 4,083 lineal feet. BE IT FURTHE~RESOL~D that the foregoing action is subject to the receipt of $600.00 by the County of Albemarle to take care of any unusual maintenance untLt the end of the current fiscal year. Mr. H~ W. R~nkle, Resident Engineer, advised that due mainly to the heavy snows through the past winter, that funds would be insufficient to take care of the roads which have been accepted into the secondary system and therefore, the work would have to be completed in the order that ~equests were received.
