1959-06-02SPECIAL June 2, 1959 Pursuant to the. following waiver, members of the Board of Gounty Supervisors of Albemarle County, Virginia, met in special session on this date in the County Office Building, Charlottesville, Virginia-, at ?:30 P.M~ withtthe-fol-lowing members present: Messrs. John W. Williams, Edga~r N. Garnett, H. Ashby Harris, Edward E. Smith, M. Y. Sutherland, ~Jr. and Robert Thraves. ~bsent: None. We, the undersigned, members of the Board of County Supervisors of Albemarle County, Virginia, do hereby waive notice and special service thereof, of a. meeting to' be held at 7:30 P.M. on the second day of June, 1959, in the County Office Building, Char- lottesville, Virginia, for the purpose of co~sidering the care of County dogs, and we do hereby consent to ~any and all business and the taking of such action at said meeting upon the matter hereinabove mentioned as may be lawful, incident and necessary thereto Officers present~ County Executive. · /~ Edga~ N. Y,~Sutherland, Jr. Robert Thraves The Chairman advised that due to circumstances which have arisen since the receipt of the re' of the Dog Committee at the last regalar meeting of the Board, it was deemed necessary to call a meetimg to cemsider future plans regarding the care of dogs. He stated that the SPCA had issued a public notice to the effect that its ~.helt~er wo~ld not be available for the confinement of County dogs after May 31, 1959~ and that arrangements had been made with the City of Charlettemville for the confinement of such animals. He further stated that the County must seek more ~p~manent arrangements along this lime. Grayson Johnson and Me. Ray Walker, Game Wardens, along with Mr. Randolph Marshall, sat in en certain phases of the meeting. Considerable discussion was given to the matter and after due consideration, the Chairman instructed the Dog Committee te continue its study and to give a report of its recommendations to the Board at a special, meeting to be held on Thursday, June 4, 1959. On motion, the meeting adjourned.
