1961-04-10SPECIAL April 10, 1961 Pursuant to the following waiver, members of the Board of County SUPerVisors of Albemarle County, Virginia, met in special'session on this date in the CoUnty O~t House, Charlottesville, vir- ginia, at 7:30 P.M. with the following present: Messrs. John W. Williams, Edgar N. Garnett, H. Ashby Harris, George C. Palmer, ii, M. Y. Sutherland, Jr. and Robert Thraves. Also present, M. M. Pence, County Executive. We, the undersigned, members of the Board of County Supervisors of Albemarle County, Virginia, do hereby waive notice and special service thereof, of a meeting to be h~ at 7:30 P.M. on the tenth dayof April, 1961, at the Court House, CharlottesVille, Virginia, for the purpose of considering Daylight S~ving Time, and we do hereby con- sent to any and all business and the taking of such action at said meeting upon the matter hereinab°ve mentioned as may be lawful, ~p~cid~t and necessary thereto. The Chairman called the meeting to order and explained that its purpose was to determine the feeling of the businesses and individuals in Albemarle County regards Daylight Saving Time. Approxi- mately 75-80 people were in attendance and an opportunity was given all present to speak in the matter. Representatives from six of the main industries located within the County spoke in favor of the County going on Daylight SaVing Time. Several individuals also spoke in favor of such action. In addition, two people present spoke against Daylight Saving Time and stated ~heir reasons. After hearing all people, the Chairman amked for a standing vote regards the matter. Approxi- mately 65-70 people stood in favor of Daylight .Saving Time and 5 stoo~ in opposition to same. After consideration, and on motion by Mr. Harris, seconded by Mr. Sutherland, it was unani- mously adopted that this matter by carried over to the' regular meeting of April 19, 1961, for decision.
