1945-04-1810I A. regular meeting of the Board of County Supervisors of Albemarle County, Virginia~ was held at the Office Building of said County on the 18th day of April~ 1945. Present: Messrs. Po H. Gentry, E. J. Ballard, T. E~ Bruce, Henry Chiles, C. Pur- cell McCue, and W. W. Wood~ Absent: None~ Officers present~ County Executive, Commonwealth's Attorney and Sheriff. Minutes of the meeting of March 21, 1945 were read and approved~ Request was received from the Chamber of Commerce for a contribution for advertisi~ng purposes. Upon motion, duly made and seconded, and. appropriation of ~l~Oo00 was made for the Chamber of Commerce to be used for advertising. Communication was received from ~. Edwin Hemphill concerning publication of Histor~i of Virginia World N'ar II. The County Executive was instructed to discuss the matter with Col. Henry B~ Goodloe and action was deferred until the next meeting of the Board. An invitation was received f~om the Virginia Reserve ~ilitia asking the Board to 'iattend a ceremony at Lane High School on April 22nd at 2:~0 P. E. The Virginia Reserve ~ilitia also extended an invitation to the Board to attent a skeet shoot and picAic at Nc- Intire Park on May 20, 194~ at 2:30 P. ~o A request was received from the Peoples Nation~ank to take down certain sec~rztzes whiCh it has deposited in escrow to protect the County's deposits in said banE. Upon motion, duly made and seconded, the following resalution vms unanimously adopted' WHEREAS, the Peoples National Bank of Charlottesville has requested permission to take down $23,000 of ~¥ashington~CSunty, Vir- ginia, Sanitary District ~l, 4~J Bonds due serially, July l~ 1959 to July l, 1962, and WHEREAS, the amount of collateral pledged by the Peoples National Bank at this time i~ in excess of the amount necessary to protect the County's deposits, NOW, TP~REFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Supervisors of Albemarle County, Virginia, that the Peoples National Bank be and is hereby authorized to take down, and the National Bank and Trust Company be and i~ hereby authorized to release, the follow~ lng: ~2~,000 Washington County, Va., Sanitary District No. l, ~o Bonds due serially, July l, to July l, 1962, inclusive. Communication was received form J. Ac Anderson, Comznissioner of the Department of Highways~ approving'the Additions and Abandonments ~ the Seconda~y~System of Highways as set forth in a resolution ananimously adopted by this Board on February 21, 194~. The following reports were presented and ordered filed: (a) County Executive. (b) University of Virginia Hospital. (c) Game Warden, Nr. H. A. Haden, Director of Finance, submitted a Statement of Expenses of the Department of Finance for the month of March, one-third of which to be borne by the State. Upon motion~ duly made and seconded, this Statement was exs~ined, verified, and approved. Mr. H. A. Haden, Director of Finance, subn~itted a Statement of Expenses of the Sheriff's Office, twe~thirds o~ which to be borne by the State. Upon motion, duly made and seconded, this Statement was examined, verified, and approved. ~ir. H. A. Haden, Director of Finance, submitted a Statement of Expenses of the Co~m~onwealth's Attorney's Office for the month of ~arch, one-half of which to be borne by the State. Upon motion, duly made and seconded, this Sthlement was examined, verified, and approved~ ~:~ A Statement of the Cost of Maintenance of Prisoners confined in the C~,~+.~r -~ A S~mzmary Statement of Prisoner Days served in the County Jail during the'montho6f Ea~ch~1945, was submitted~ Upon motion, duly made and seconded, this statement was ex~mined, verified, and approved. Claim of Dr. H. T. Ergenbright, Jail Physician, s~0unting to $1.25, was presented and approved for payment. The Commonwealth's Attorney reported ths£ he had not completed his investigation of the status of Dr. ~. L. Rea as jail physician and the matter was deferred until the next meeting of the Board. The following resolution, offered by Nr~ O. Purcell HcCue~ was unanimously adopted: BE IT P~SOLVED by thc Board of County Supervisors of Albe- marle County~ Virginia, that the General County Fund lend to the Charlottesville District Road Debt Fund such a~ount as it may need up to $5000.00. The Annual Budget of the Department of Public Nelfare for t~ fiscal year ending June 30~ 1946, was presented and approved.
