1945-12-19 A regular meeting of the Board of County Supervisors of Albemarle County, Virginia~ was held at the Office Building of said County on the 19th of December, 19%5. Present: Mr. P. H. Gentry, Mr. Henry Chiles, Mr. C. Purcell McCue, and Mr. W. W. Wood Absent: Mr. T. E. Bruce and Mr. E. J. Ballard. Officers present: County Executive, Commonwealth, s Attorney, and Sheriff. Minutes of the meeting of November 21, 19%5, were read and approved. Mr. E. O. McCue, Jr. and Mr. John S. Battle appeared and discussed the a~ount of money being returned to the Comuty by the State for School's and School Teachers' salaries. Mr. E. H. Bain appeared and requested that the County contract with the Virginia Electric and Power Company to furnish lights for Crozet. Mr. McOue made a motion which was seconded by Mr. Wood to approve this contract if,it~Jthei:opihion of Mr. W. O. Fife, Common- wealth'~ Attorney, it was legal~ Mr. ~. C. Ambler, Resident Engineer, informed the Board that the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway Company had requested to relocate on Route 682. Upon motion, made by Mr. Henry Chiles and seconded by Mr. W. W. Wood, the following resolution was unanimously adopted: BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Supervisors of Albe- marle County, Virginia, that the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway Company be and is hereby granted permission to relocate on Route 682. Mr. Berlin Eye appeared and discussed the employment o£ an a~sistant Game Warden. Mr. Cockrell was given authority by the Board to act on ~.ts behalf in the employment of a person approved by the Countyaand the State Forestry Service. A Statement of Expenses incurred in the maintenance of prisoners in the County Jail during the month of November, 1945, was submitted. Ergenbright, Jail Physician, amounting to $2.50, was pre- sented and allowed for payment. payment. Claim of C. G. Co Morris~ and if Mr. Ballard ag~eed to proceed with the sale. A communication was received from T. E. C~ar~ concerning a partoti~e game warden and was ordered filed~ Upon motion made by Mr. W. W. Wood and seconde~ by ~r. C. Purcell NcCue, the budget was ammended so as to provide $110.O0 per month for Nfs. Helen Humbert as Deputy to Mrs. Eva W. ~aupin~ Upon motion made by ~. Gentry as Chairman for the year 1946, which nomination was seconded by Mr. Henry Chiles, There being no further nominations, Mr. Gentry was unanimously elected. Mr. W. ~. Need nominated ~rs. June T. Via as Clerk of the Board, which nomination was seconded by ~r. T. E. Bruce. There being no further nominations, Mrs. Via was unanimousl~ elected. Mr~ Ballard made a motion to re-elect the same Equalization Board consist~n~ of ~r. C. M. Garnett, Mr. J. B. Kegley, and Mr. P. C. ~inor. There being no further nominationsl ~r. Garnett, Mr. Xegley, and ~r. Minor were unanimously elected. Mr. Gentry appointed the following to serve on the Finance Committee: Mr.l Henry Chiles, Mr. C. Purcell McCue, and Mr. N. W. Wood. Minutes of the meeting of December 19, 1945 were read and approved. Mr. Cockrell introduced Mr. Julian Thomas, Assistant Game War~en, whom he and ~r. Berlin Eye of the Forest Service ha~ employed. A committee consisting of Mr. McCue and ~r. Bruce w~appointed to meet with Mr. Thomas, Mr. Cockrell, Mr. Eye, and ~r. Fife for the ~rpose of outlining Mr. Thomas' work. Col.
