1948-04-01April i, 1948. Pursuant to the following waiver, the members of the Board of County SuperviSors of Albemarle County, Virginia, met in special session on this date with the following mem- bers present: Messrs. C. Purcell McCue, Henry Chiles, P.. B. Peyton, and W. W. Wood. We, the. undersigned member~ of the Board of County Supervisors of Albemarle County, Virginia, hereby waive notice and service t~ere- of of a Special Meeting of the said Board to be held at ten o'clock E.M. on April !st, 1948, at the County Office Building, for the pur- poses of considering and acting upon matters pertaining to the Office of County Executive and Director of Finance; considering and acting upon aucontract with the Rector and Visitors of the University touching hospitalization of County residents~ considering and aching upon certain matters pertaining to the Budgets and tax levy; and we do hereby consent to the transaction of any and all business and the taking of such action at said meeting touching or relating to any of the matters aforesaid as may be lawful, incident and necessary thereto. The following letter was received from T. Coleman Andrews and Company concerning the agreement fbetween the County ~nd ~. D. A. Robinson: Mr. C. Purcell McCue,Chairman Board of SuperVisors of Albemarle County, Charlottesville, Virginia Dear Mr. McCue: March 18, !9A8 · This is to confirm my understanding of the arrangement agreed upon yesterday with the Board of Supervisors of Albemarle County by me for my firm concerning t~e services of Mr. D. A. Robinson of our staff. I agreed that Mr. Robinson's services with our firm would b~ termi- nated, with re-employment rights, at the close of business March 31st, in order to enable him to accept appointment as Albemarle County's acting CSmnty Executive and Director of Finance beginning April.lst, and that the Board of Supervisors, Mr. Robinson and we agreed that after March 31st, Mr. Robinson would have no responsibility to our firm and that our firm would not be responsible for his acts as Acting County Executive and Director of Finance of Albemarle County, or otherwise, until such time as he might terminate his service with the County and resume his status as a member of the staff or our firm. It was further agreed, of course, that during his employment by the County of Albemarle, our firm would not be responsible to him for any com= pensation or expenses, thatthis responsibility would be entirely ass~ed by the County of Albemarle upon such basis as might be agreed upon between him and the Cdunty, and that our firm would not expect to receive and would not receive any compensation for his services. Cockreil, heretofore tendered his resignation-as County Executive and Director of Finance of Albemarle County to the Board of County Supervisors of said County, to take effect at the close of business on March '31, 1948, and D. A. Robinso: was duly appointed and has qualified as such County Executive and Director of Finance for said County, assuming the duties of office as of April 1st, 1948; BE IT RESOLVED, TH~{EFORE, that The Peoples National Bank of Charlottesville, The National Bank and Trust Company at Charlottesville, and Citizens Bank and Trust Company, Charlottesville, present depositories of State and County Funds, be and they are hereby directed to change the accounts ~nd deposits in their respective institutions from ~County of Albemarle, by Hunter G. Chesshir, Game Warden, appeared and advised that the radio system was not working in accordance with the agreement made by the Arnold Company, and was ad- vised that this matter would be investigated. Bonds for the employees in the Department of Finance were discussed and upon motion, duly made and seconded, it was ordered that all emmployees give new bonds with the New Amsterdam Casualty Company. ~r. The Hospital Contract for Indigent Patients wa~ discussed. Mr. N. W. Wood ad- vised Vhat the University had requested the City and County to sign a contract drawn up by the State. Upon ~eo6mmendation of Mr. Wood, it was ordered that this contract be signed with the understanding that the County would pay only $~,500.00 and the University Hospital would not refuse to accept patients after this amount was used, provided however, that this contract be approved by ~[r. ~V.
