1923-11-21 At a regmalar meeting of the Board of Supervisors held at the County Home on · November 21, 1923 Present: Hollis Rinehart, Chairman, C. Purcell EoOue, ,S.A,,O~lhoun, j.~t. Fray a~ad C.A.Eill~er The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. In the matter of the proposal of Dudley L.Goodwin, to purc~h~-se a strip of land from the edge of the County Farm. The Board looked over this trac% and authorized Er. J.H. Hopkins, Supt. t8 offer the tract to Er. Goodwin fo~ $100.00 Er. Goodwin ~o have the land surveyed at his expense, and to pay fOr the drawing of the deed etc. On motion of Er. EcCue, seconded by Er. Calhoun, Er. S.S~TeeI was appointed County Agent for the next year, and C.G.Greer, colored agent was ~ppointed for anotheryear. An appropriation in the same amount as for~ the past year was m~de for the ensuing year. Tl~e request for a change in the Game Law was cons~idered and rejected. ~he application for Er. J. T.~cKinney, Contractor on %he Eonticello ~oad, for an~extension of time to complete his contract was considered and rejected. T~e same action was taken on the application of Ellis-Brooks & Co. for an extension~of time. The October statement of expenditures of R.E.Lee, Supt. of Roads was e~ined, approved and ~r~8~ed filed. WHEREAS, when the Howardsville Road was graded, the grading of ~§0 feet was omitted at the underpass ~t the C.&.0. Railway, near Esmont, and ~&S, the C.&. 0. Railway are now ready to rebuild this~underpass, VEqEREAS, the excavation is almost entirely rock, and WHEP~AS, C.A. Pmyne, of Scottaville has ~ contract to rebuild this underpass and h~s submitted a proposal to complete the ecaavation of the road at a price of $1.00 per Cubic yard. Be it resolved that contract be entered into with CoA. Pmyne to do this work at.the same time that be rebuilds the trestle. ~IEREAS bonds were voted for the improvement for the Crozer'White Y~d Road in ~aite Hall District. W~REAS, this ro~d has all been graded and all surfaced excepted approximately three-thnths of a mile, between Station ~8 and Station ~l,.a~d WHEREAS the remaining fund is not sufficient to n~cad~uize~this three-tenths of a mile. At the request of interested Critizens. HE IT RESOLVED that this three-tenths of a mile be surfaced with crused rock from the C~&. 0. Quarry at Basic. County trucks and equipments be used to b~ul and distribute this rock at a cost not to exceed the approximate Estimate of the Supt. of roads. It being reatly to the ~nterest of Albemarle County to eliminate the Railway Crossings, when the Covesville Ro~d is constructed.
