Present:-- J,M.Fray Chairman, D.Purcell McCue, C.A.. Miller, J.E.Abell and P.H.Gentry. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. On April 24th bids were opened for the construction of nine and three-tenths miles of the ,Batesville Road between Garland's Store and Batesville. Three bids were received. The bid of G.P. Clay of Richmond being the lowest received was accepted, subject to the approval of the State Highway'Department. And a contract is hereby awarded said G.p. Clay. The report of ~ohn B.Minor, P.C.Minor, W.D.Holladay and J. 0.Thurman dated April 18th 1924, in regard to the relocation, alteration and change of the public County Road leading from 0wensville (Woodson's Store) to Boonesviile through the !and of J.~.Naupin was laid before the Board with the map accompanying same and the Opinion of said Board being against establishing or altering or relocating the road as set out in said report, it was ordered tha~ the said report be rejected 'and disapproved. ~r rajection: Miller, Fray and McCue for acceptance : Abell and Gentry. On motion of CjPurcell McCue and seconded by ~.H.Gentry it is ordered that the steel for the Harris Mill Bridge be ordered. On motion of C.Purceil McCue and seconded by C.A.Miller it is unanimouslx. ordered that the request of Er. J.W.Hopkins to remain at the County Home untill October let 1924 be granted. On motion of C.Purcell McCue and seconded by P.H. Gentry it is ordered that the two bridges on the Miller School Road be rebuilt at once, the School advancing On motion of C~A,Miller and meconded by P.H.Gentry it is unan- imous!y ordered that a committee consisting of Mr. Miller, Burnley and Thacker be appointed to decide in What order the several bridges may be buil~. ~ On motion of C.Purcell McCue and seconded by P.H.Gentry it i.s ordered that the stum of $25.00 be appropriated by the County to fix the f~ord on the road ~from Owensville to ~#hite Hallo At a Called meeting of the Board of Supervisors of Albemarle County held at the Court House of said County on the 30th day of k~y 1924. It mppearing to the Board that it will be necessary to borrow some money with which to pay County expenses between 'n6w and the co!lsction of 1924 taxes. It is therefore ordered that the T~easu~e~ of the County~be, and he is hereby authorizsd in the name, and on behalf of the County of Albemarle to make arangemen~s ~ith some bank~e~ banks f6r~them to gdvance the necessary amount, not to exceed $30,000.00 and to execute such obligation or obligations in the n~me, ~nd on behalf of said County as may be necessary to secure such advancement or advancements, and also by such obligation or obligation~a~d pledge 1924 taxes for same. In the matter of the steel for new bridges over ~echumS River at Harris's Mill ~nd over Stocktons Creek mt Woodson's Shop. Bids were invited from the Oha~mpion Bridge Company, the Roanoke Iron & Bridge Works ~nd the Atlantic Bridge Company. The C.b~mpion Hridge Company bid $3,325°00 for 'the steel for Harris's Mill ~d $1,350®00 for the st2e~ fo~ the gridge at ~oodson~s Shop. The Roanoke Iron & Bridge Wroks bid ~3,300~00 for the Hmrris' Mill Bridge and $1,200.00 for the bridge at ~oodson's Shop~ T~e~bid of the Roanoke Iron & Bridg~ ~roks being ~ the !owest,"w~s accepted by the committee of th~ Board, ~nd the order for this material is hereby confirmed.
