1927-02-16 At a regular meeting of the Board of Supervisors of Albemarle County, .Virginia, held at the Gourt House of said COunty on 16th day of February 1927, Present~ Y..E. Fray, Chairman, G.Purcell EcOue, P.H.Gentry, ~.HoLanghorne, ~oE.Abell a~d C.A.Eil!er. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. A delegatio~ of citizens appeared before the Ooard and requested an appropriation of $2700. for the eradication of Bovine Tuberculosis and after a !enghtly discussion, on motion of ~.E.Abell and seconded by P.H. Gentry the following resolution was adopted: Be It Resolved that the ~oare of Supervisors of Albemarle County, Virginia, appropriate a s~ not exceeding $2700. for the eradication of Bovine Tuberculosis. Aye, Abel!, Gentry, Ec Cue and Eilter.' No, Fray and Langhorne. On motion of ~.E. Abell and seconded by P.H. Gentry the following ordinance was adopted. An Ordinance to protect the health of the People, ~,~±e, Swi~e, and Fowls, against the diseases known as T'uberc~losis. For the purpose of protecting the health of the people, domestic anL.m~ls, and fowls, of Albemarle County against tuberculosis it is hereby orderedI. 1. That the accredited Area regulations shall apply to the cattle imported into the Country: 2. That ReEulation #~ Pertaining to the sale of milk and cream otc, shall not become effective until the herd owner shall have had an opportunity to have his cattle tested by a representative of the County, State, or Fede~ral Govez~nments. $. That no milk, cream-, cottage cheese, or butter-milk, shall be sold, given away, or otherwise disposed of, within the County e~cept to be the product of cattle which are tuberculin tested at such intervals as are deemed advisable by the State and Federal live stock sanitary authorities. Ali other c~ttle shall be ~aint~ined in quarantine on the premises of ~ne owner until an approved tuberculin best has been applied or the animals are sold for immediate slaughter; When herds are tuberculin tested by C'ou~ty, State, or Federal inspectors the herd owner shall ~ive the necessary assistance in con- trolling the cattle i ~hen herds of cattle are tuberculin tested all chickens m~intained on the same premises shall be insDected and such action taken as may be deemed necessary to free the flocks from tuberculosis; 6. On premises where cattle are found to be tuberculems such action as is deemed advisable shall be taken to eradicate the disease from any swine which may also be maintained thereon. It is therefore ordered that the Treasurer of Albemarle County, be and he is hereby authorized in the name and on behalf of the said Gounty of Albemarle to make arrangement or arrangements with some bank or banks to advance the necessary amount not to exceed $50,000.00 and to secure such obligation o~ obligations in the name, and on behalf of said County as may be necessary to secur~ such advancement or advancements, and also by such obligation or obligations pledge 1927 taxes for the same. Thereafter and on said day there was filed the foregoing estimate. Thereafter said estimate was duly considered by the Board which in accordanc~ with law fixed as a date of hearing on said estimate the 20th day of April, 1927, at the hour of ll AcE. of said day, said hearing to be had at the Oourt House in Albemarle Co~z~ty, Virginia. The Clerk of the Board of Supervisors was directed to publish a synopsis of the budget and the notice of hearing, as required by law, in the Charlottesville Progress and Scottsville ~ews, newspapers having general circulation in the locality affected, ~t least ten days prior to the date set for hearing. Seth Burnley's report for the month of Zanuary 1927, was presented examined and ordered to be filed. G.Stuart Hazmn, Treasurer, presented to the Board a statement together with all warrants paid by him during the month of ganuary 1927. Board examined said warrants and ordered said statement filed.
