1997-05-08 adjApproved by t~ Board of Coun Supervisors Date Initials May 8, 1997 (Adjourned Meeting) (Page 1) An adjourned meeting of the Board of Supervisors of Albemarle County, Virginia, was held on May 8, 1997, at 4:30 p.m., at the Walker Middle School, 1564 Diary Road, in the City of Charlottesville, Virginia. (Note: On May 7, 1997, the Board put into its record the date of May 8, 1997, as one of the dates the Thomas Jefferson Venture would be holding a meeting as part of its schedule. They did this in order that the Board members could attend this meeting of the Venture.) BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT THIS DATE: Mr. David P. Bowerman, Ms. Charlotte Y. Humphris and Ms. Sally H. Thomas. NOT PRESENT THIS DATE: Mr. Forrest R. Marshall, Jr., Mr. Charles S. Martin and Mr. Walter F. Perkins. BOARD OFFICER PRESENT: County Executive, Robert W. Tucker, Jr. The meeting of the Thomas Jefferson Venture was called to order at 4:30 p.m., by the Chair of the Thomas Jefferson Planning District Commission (TJPDC), Ms. Sally H. Thomas. After an introduction of all persons present, the members agreed to retain Ms. Thomas as chair of the Thomas Jefferson Venture and to retain the original name of the organization - Thomas Jefferson Venture.- Ms. Nancy O'Brien gave a brief overview of the Regional Competitiveness Program and reviewed definitions compiled from the members' work on May 1 and May 6. Subcommittees were formed to review the draft bylaws for the organization and to develop a funding formula. Members were given a book which contained statistical information on the region. Members divided into smaller groups to discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the region. (Note: A complete copy of the minutes of this meeting as prepared by the Thomas Jefferson Planning District Commission is on file in the Clerk's office. With no further business to come before the Venture, the meeting was adjourned. " Chairman
